Role of GATT in the Uruguay Round: The Trade Ministers of the GATT nations met at Punta del Este, Uruguay in Sept. 1986. The decisions taken by them paved the way for the Uruguay Round of multilateral trade negotiations which were launched in October 1986 in Geneva.
